What a tiler does
Tilers lay wall and floor tiles in kitchens, bathrooms and hallways and outside on patios and steps, and take up old tiles first. The finish depends on the surface underneath being flat and sound, so a tiler in Purley may ask for a plasterer or a levelling compound before they start. That is care, not padding.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to prepare the wall or floor before tiling?
The surface must be flat, dry, stable and clean. Fresh plaster needs to dry and be primed, timber floors usually need a backer board, and old tiles can sometimes be tiled over. The tiler will say what preparation they include.
Which grout and adhesive should be used in a shower?
A waterproof, flexible adhesive and a mould resistant grout, with proper sealant at every corner and where the tiles meet the tray. Large format and porcelain tiles need the right adhesive, so let the tiler choose.
Should I buy extra tiles?
Yes. Allow for cuts and breakages, and keep some spares for repairs. The tiler can tell you how much extra once they have seen the room and the tile size.
How do I get a quote from tilers in Purley?
Pick a listing on this page and send a quote request saying what needs doing and when suits you. The business comes back to you with a price and a time. It is free to ask, and no payment is taken online.
Are the tilers on this page vetted?
Not yet. Listings marked Claimed have been claimed by the business and are kept up to date by them; the rest come from public records such as Companies House and Google and are marked as not yet claimed. Every listing shows its real Google rating and review count where one exists. We do not check registers or insurance yet, so ask for a Gas Safe or NICEIC/NAPIT number and check it yourself.
What should I check before I hire a tiler?
Ask for a written quote and what it includes, who will do the work, whether they are insured, and any registration the trade needs, such as Gas Safe for gas work or a Part P scheme for electrics. Never pay the full amount up front.
Prices and availability are confirmed by each business. No payment is taken online, you pay the tradesperson directly.
