Gas engineers near Shirley at a glance
The 40 gas engineers shown near Shirley are based across 12 postcode districts (B90, B28, B14, B27, B92, B13, B30, B91 and more), so there is usually one close by whichever side of Shirley you are on.
29 of them carry Google reviews, 1,246 between them, averaging 4.9 out of 5. Worth reading before you pick on price alone, because the cheapest quote is a false economy if the work needs doing twice.
The highest rated is Awp Boiler Installations Ltd at 5.0 from 194 reviews.
Of the 29 where we hold working hours, 26 work on a Saturday and 12 on a Sunday. Weekend slots go first, so asking a few days ahead usually gets you a better choice than ringing round on the day.
What a gas engineer does
Gas engineers install, repair and service boilers, gas hobs, cookers and fires, and issue the gas safety record a landlord needs each year. By law anyone working on gas in the UK must be on the Gas Safe Register, so before anyone in Shirley touches your boiler, ask to see their Gas Safe ID card and check the number on the register.

Frequently asked questions
How do I check someone is Gas Safe registered?
Ask to see their Gas Safe ID card, which shows a licence number and the types of work they are qualified for, and check the number on the Gas Safe Register website. A business being registered is not the same as the individual engineer being qualified for boilers.
My boiler is showing an error code. Is it an emergency?
If you can smell gas, leave the property, do not use light switches, and call the National Gas Emergency line on 0800 111 999. An error code with no smell is usually a fault rather than a danger, and the boiler will normally have shut itself down safely. Note the code before you request a quote.
How often should a boiler be serviced?
Manufacturers ask for an annual service to keep the warranty valid, and landlords must have a gas safety check every 12 months. A service checks the burner, flue and safety devices; it is not the same as a landlord safety record, so ask which you are getting.
How do I get a quote from gas engineers in Shirley?
Pick a listing on this page and send a job request saying what needs doing and when suits you. The business comes back to you with a price and a time. It is free to ask, and no payment is taken online.
Are the gas engineers on this page vetted?
Not yet. Listings marked Claimed have been claimed by the business and are kept up to date by them; the rest come from public records and are marked as not yet verified. Every listing shows its real Google rating and review count where one exists. We say plainly what we have checked and what we have not.
What should I check before I hire a gas engineer?
Ask for a written quote and what it includes, who will do the work, whether they are insured, and any registration the trade needs, such as Gas Safe for gas work or a Part P scheme for electrics. Never pay the full amount up front.
Prices and availability are confirmed by each business. No payment is taken online, you pay the tradesperson directly.
