Rated People Limited entered creditors' voluntary liquidation on 16 September 2026 and every tradesperson membership was closed the same day. On 17 September Checkatrade Group announced it had bought the brand and website only. Accounts, subscriptions and reviews were not transferred. What Rated People did well
For twenty years it was a well known consumer brand with around 700,000 homeowner visitors a month, a simple post-a-job flow, and a three trade cap that trades preferred to Checkatrade's wider sharing. Those were real strengths and they are why Checkatrade bought the name.
Where YourHouseFix differs
Nothing is prepaid, so nothing can be lost. There is no contract, no lead credits and no annual fee sitting on account. Our trade charter says in writing that if the business is ever sold, your account, reviews and price go with it. Your reviews are yours to export any time, and if you paste your old Rated People profile URL when you claim your listing we show your years trading and your verified Google review counts with attribution.
The price is £10 a month plus £10 per lead you accept, locked for life for Founding Members. Anyone with a Rated People profile gets 60 days free rather than 30.
What to do now
Write to the liquidator, S&W Group, about any refund. Screenshot or export your reviews from wherever you still have them. Then list free on YourHouseFix, claim your listing and paste your old profile URL. Our Rated People has closed page has the details.
The verdict
Rated People's model was a 12 month contract plus a per lead fee, and when the money ran out its trades were left with closed accounts and no refund route except the liquidator. YourHouseFix has no contract and nothing prepaid, and promises in writing that a sale would carry your account and reviews with it. Prices checked 26 September 2026.
