MyBuilder, owned by Angi through IAC, is one of the better liked platforms among homeowners. Its model is different from Checkatrade: no monthly fee, but a fee each time a homeowner adds you to their shortlist. For a tradesperson the question is what those shortlist fees add up to against the work you actually win.

What MyBuilder does well
No monthly fee, and the homeowner chooses who to shortlist, so a trade with a good profile and good reviews is picked on merit rather than on who paid most. The first message is free both ways, which is fair.
Where YourHouseFix differs
The moment you are charged. On MyBuilder the fee lands when the homeowner shortlists you, and the most common complaint in public reviews is paying £20 to £30 for people who then said they were not ready. On YourHouseFix nothing is charged until you click Accept, and if the homeowner goes silent within 72 hours of that the £10 comes back.
The other difference is who sees the job. MyBuilder puts several trades in front of a homeowner. YourHouseFix gives you first look, then caps a job at three, and you see "you are 1 of 3" before you accept.
Which should you use?
If you want no monthly commitment at all and are happy to pay per shortlist, MyBuilder is straightforward and well used. If you would rather pay a small monthly fee and only ever be charged for jobs you chose to take, YourHouseFix is the closer fit, and the £10 a month is free for the first 30 days.
The verdict
