Checkatrade vs YourHouseFix

Checkatrade vs YourHouseFix: how do they compare?

Our view, written September 2026. Prices checked 26 September 2026 from the platform's own pages and public reviews. Details change, so check the platform for the latest.

Checkatrade is the largest find-a-tradesperson platform in the UK, with over 50,000 member trades and a brand that most homeowners recognise. If you are a tradesperson deciding where to spend, the useful comparison is what each platform costs you, how many other firms see the same job, and how long you are tied in.

We are YourHouseFix, so this is our view. We have kept to Checkatrade's own published pages and public reviews, and named the sources below so you can check them.

What Checkatrade does well

Scale. Nearly 3 million consumers post jobs there, the brand is on television, and its vetting runs to 12 checks on identity, address, documents and trading history. If you want to be where the most homeowners already look, that is Checkatrade, and that is a genuine strength.

Where YourHouseFix differs

Three things. First, the price is on the page: £10 a month plus £10 per lead you accept, and nobody will ring you to quote. Second, there is no contract, so a bad month costs you nothing more than a month. Third, a job comes to you first and never goes to more than three trades, so you are not one of four or five firms racing to the bottom.

The complaints that come up most often about Checkatrade in public reviews are the 12 month lock in, being billed while an account is suspended, and lead estimates that do not match what arrives. Our trade charter answers each of those in writing: no fixed term, billing stops the minute we suspend anyone, and you only ever pay for a lead you clicked Accept on.

Which should you use?

If you have the budget for a 12 month commitment and want the largest audience, Checkatrade will put you in front of more homeowners than anyone else today. If you would rather pay per job you accept, see the price before you sign, and keep the freedom to leave, YourHouseFix is built for that. Plenty of trades will run both and see which one sends work that turns into money.

The verdict

Checkatrade has the audience and the brand, and we do not pretend otherwise. What it does not offer is a published Growth price, a rolling contract, or a promise that a job goes to you first. YourHouseFix offers all three, at £10 a month plus £10 per accepted lead, locked for life for Founding Members. Prices checked 26 September 2026.
